Biaxial Geogrid

Biaxial geogrid  is used for reinforcement of the unbound layers of roads and other trafficked areas; it can also be used to stabilize the construction layers of railway structures. The geogrid is made from virgin polypropylene (PP).

PP Biaxial Geogrid

Biaxial polypropylene geogrids are called PP biaxial geogrids because they contain similar strength in both the machine and cross machine direction. It does not necessarily mean they have the same strength in both directions just that the geogrids are designed to provide support in both directions. Biaxial geogrid can be knitted, woven or extruded but the majority are extruded. Extruded biaxial geogrids are generally extruded using polypropylene with a small amount of carbon black added to give the geogrid the ability to resist UV degradation. Biaxial geogrid’s primary application is for use in base stabilization. By placing the PP geogrid in the gravel base so that it can interlock with gravel above and below you can extend the service life or reduce the total amount of aggregate needed for a road or parking lot application.

  • designed exclusively for ground stabilization
  • more suitable for mechanical stabilization than woven and bonded geogrids
  • strong junctions and sharp rib edges for effective confinement of the aggregate particles

Benefits:

1. Increase the bearing capacity of the roadbed and foundation and prolong their service life.

2. Prevent road surface and foundation from sinking or flawing, keep clean and beautiful ground surface.

3. Convenient construction saves time and labor, reduce mounting time and decrease maintenance expense.

4. Prevent culverts from flawing.

5. Enhance earth slope and prevent water loss and soil erosion.

6. Decrease underlayer thickness and save manufacturing cost.

7. Enhance the stability of side slope turf net patch to improve greening.

8. Replace wire netting used in mine as intermediate ceiling netting.

Application:

Suitable for various types of embankment and roadbed reinforcement, slope protection, tunnel wall reinforcement, and permanent bearing foundation reinforcement for large airports, parking lots, docks and freight yards.

❖Biaxial  PP geogrids for Foundation Reinforcement

1. Road and Pavement Construction:

PP biaxial geogrid is widely used in road and pavement construction to improve the bearing capacity of weak soils, prevent cracking and rutting, and extend the service life of the infrastructure

2. Retaining Walls and Slope Stabilization:

The geogrid provides reinforcement to soil structures, such as retaining walls and slopes, preventing soil erosion, and maintaining stability.

3. Landfill and Mining Applications:

PP biaxial geogrid is used in landfill and mining applications to enhance the stability of the soil, control soil erosion, and prevent the migration of contaminants.

4. Railway and Airport Construction:

The geogrid is employed in railway and airport construction to improve the load-bearing capacity of the subgrade, reduce settlement, and increase the overall performance of the infrastructure.

5. Coastal and Riverbank Protection:

PP biaxial geogrid is utilized in coastal and riverbank protection projects to prevent erosion, stabilize the soil, and provide long-term stability to the shoreline.
